Australia's Top Android Music & Podcast Apps in Q4 2020: A Sensor Tower Report

In the fourth quarter of 2020, Australia's Android users showed distinct preferences in their choice of music and podcasts applications. Data provided by Sensor Tower reveals the performance of the top applications in this category.

Spotify: Music and Podcasts, despite generating no revenue during this period, saw a fluctuating download trend with a peak of 15K downloads in the week of December 21. Weekly active users remained strong, starting at 2.54M and reaching a high of 2.65M in the final quarter.

YouTube Music also reported no revenue, but its downloads surged to 21K in the first week of October, followed by a gradual decline to 7.6K by year's end. The app's weekly active users experienced a rise from 520K to a peak of 627K in early December before closing the quarter with 580K active users.

Amazon Music: Songs & Podcasts showed a steady increase in downloads, ending the year with 7.3K, up from 4.9K at the start of the quarter. The app's active users also grew, starting at 61.8K and rising to 72.3K, indicating a solid user base.

Shazam: Find Music & Concerts observed modest download numbers that grew stronger towards the end of the quarter, reaching 6.5K. The app's weekly active users increased consistently, from 128K to a high of 143.9K in the last week of December.

SoundCloud: Play Music & Songs experienced its highest downloads at the start and end of the quarter, with 4.8K and 4.3K respectively. Active users showed a slight increase from 72.3K to 73.8K, maintaining a stable presence in the market.
